Turku Cathedral Boys' Choir in concert at LTSP October 20

Finland's Turku Cathedral Boys' Choir (Chorus Cathedralis Iuniorum) will be in concert at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 7 pm. Co-hosted by LTSP and Finland's Honorary Consul, Philadelphia, Ms. Kristina Mattila, the concert will be presented in the Schaefer-Ashmead Chapel on the seminary's campus, 7301 Germantown Ave. in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia. Open to the public, a free-will offering will benefit the LTSP Chapel Fund.

Chorus Cathedralis Iuniorum (CCI), the Turku Cathedral Boys' Choir, was established in 1987 at the initiative of the joint music committee of the Turku Lutheran Parishes in the tradition of similar European boys’ choirs. In addition to their significant contribution to the musical life of the cathedral in Turku, a medieval city in southwest Finland, CCI sings in services at the cathedral and other Turku churches. CCI has made concert tours to Sweden, England, Germany, Estonia, the United States and Canada. They sing a capella and larger, orchestrated compositions, including pieces by composers such as Mozart, Schubert and Bach. The Choir’s concert at the seminary is part of a 10 day, three city tour of the U.S. that will also take them to New York and Washington, DC.
